Do you deliver Birthday cakes to our kids on campus??
Not nearly as good as it was in the seventies.
A local business worth supporting. The entire staff was helpfully and friendly. The owner introduced himself to me and my wife, welcoming us to the area. Their deserts and coffee are very good, and at a reasonable price. I got a lemon bar and a danish to go with my coffee.
MoreI am from out of town and was trying to get some sweets delivered to one of my other branches on Valentines none the less! I called at 3:09 and they close at 4 and the gentleman offered to deliver what I needed after 4 when he closed. I had no idea what to order so I told him just make me a box with some goodies in it and he did just that. After he delivered the items that office called to say how delicious everything was. He went above and beyond and provided exceptional customer service!
MoreIf they have the gingerbread I recommend buying at least 10. Those suckers are SO good. I ate a whole one by myself (I was supposed to be sharing it) and it was INCREDIBLY easy to devour one by myself. They are SO soft and flavorful. I got an assortment of other goodies but felt inclined to write about the gingerbread first!! If they're open you should definitely step inside!!
MoreGood soup, nice atmosphere for lunch!
Best pimento in augusta great food and. Split pea soup good to
Charged my mother, 76 year old woman $12 for a bread mayo lettuce and tomato sandwich!! When I called to asked about this issue I was laughed at and brushed off. What a lack of compassion!! They may have good food my mother only ate bread....and who wants to do business with people who pray on the elderly!! Masters' customers beware!!
MoreSplit pea soup is the bomb. I made my husband promise me he would bring it to me if I was ever seriously injured and had to be hospitalized.
MoreI had the fruitcake cookie and it was moist, delicious and spiced just right. Not everyone can made a great tasting fruitcake but this cookie was the bee's knees. My children had the Napoleon cookie and they enjoyed it tremendously.
MoreI had the Ruben sandwich and it was very good , I also like the friendly service and the Owner talking to us was nice
MoreIt’s nothing special. It’s just a 74 year old hole in the wall bakery. The food is decent and the only thing that’s really good about this place is that the pastries were ok. Definitely not worth $9 per Sandwhich. For a 74 year old shop they are really bad. Would not recommend
MoreNice sandwich shop. My favorite soup is the pinto bean soup.
Real homemade soup
new owners added some really great items while keeping the classic menu of the Sunshine bakery that we all love. I look forward to trying new yummy dishes
MoreIt's a small spot in the city of Augusta. I normally come here on rainy days for hot, homemade soup and sandwiches. Today I had the split pea soup with a Dutch Rhuben, delicious 😋
MoreMy sandwich was wonderful, and the cookies here melt in your mouth.
We went here because we wanted to try something new but the first thing I noticed when I walked in was the odor. The inside smells old and musty, which turns me off of my appetite. The staff was very helpful. I wasn't impressed with the selection or freshness of the sweets either. We definitely won't be back.
MoreLove the German bread they sell there.
I've been going here for 40 years. Its tiny and a bit spartan but this German deli puts out the best little sandwiches and soup. Daily Double is a rye bread turkey sandwich with a cup of soup (potato, lentil, maybe split pea). Old school deli cookies, house made rye and German pastries. They were making sunshine tea way before it became an Arnold Palmer. Only open for lunch but a little gem downtown.
MoreHidden GEM. hiding in plain sight. On Broad Street. Delicious lunch, great service, AND???? COOKIES. COOOKIES. rainbow, thumbprints, macaroons, wrinkles, and, and, and... Lots of plants, homey atmosphere, did I say? Great food. Fan. Right here. You might want to be, too.
MoreOh yeah Friendly and fresh baked goodies.
Honestly- very delicious. Grandma style “old world” cookies that remind you of holidays and baked with love. 100% recommend.
MoreA nice little bakery. Been around for 70+ years. Pastries were delicious. Seems like they get some of there bread shipped in... Would be great if they made their own. The cherries with the chocolate were delicious... Perfect treat.
MoreUse to go to Sunshine Bakery when I was a little girl. It hasn't changed one bit in 60 years. They still have the Date Bars. That was my mother's favorite. If all else fails eat a date bar from Sunshine Bakery. Thanks to new owners for keeping the past alive for the Baby Boomers.
MoreRustic but great food. Been around as long as I can remember.
An Augusta staple. Really good soups and sandwiches
Steeped in history and oh so good. The bicentennial is unmatched.
Owner was friendly, prices of the moderate, and the establishment was was cozy and clean. My and ordered the Split Pea Soup, Potato Soup along with a couple of sandwiches, Turkey Reuben and Sandwich Sampler. I would visit this establishment again.
MoreExcellent baked goods. My kids went here on a field trip and head a great time. They were excellent hosts. I really hope places like this become staples of downtown Augusta.
MoreOne word...delicious!
The Ruben sandwiches are the best. Also get the sunshine tea.
Costumer service was great but food was awful the Sandwhich I ordered was on Hawaiian bread it was stale and they used the end pieces of the bread and flipped them inward Hoping I wouldn’t notice. The ham was not good.
MoreAlways great food and great service. The Sunshine Bakery has been an Augusta institution for soooo long. I personally have been going there since coming to the area for college, well over 30 years ago. It's still a great place to get a delicious sandwich, cup of soup, and Sunshine tea...and don't forget to get a sweet treat for dessert, like their yummy Napoleons or Josephines! I can't pick a favorite sandwich or soup, as I love them all. If you go in, ask for Gene...he'll hook you up right, and is a great conversationalist. Support our local, small businesses. They are the backbone of our community.
More"She got the last Josephine pastry, where's the payphone she's going to need an uber" conversation overheard on a cold Saturday morning over a warm cup of lentil soup
MoreIt truly is the best place in town! Soups and sandwiches are delicious and the cookies and desserts are off the chain. It's like eating in your living room at Grandmoms house with a whole bunch of friends. Gene Gurley has brought Sunshine to another level and is holding his own there.
MoreBest corned beef in the south. Sandwiches perfect. Soup choices for and good flavor. Real food, real taste. Great conversation. Friendly service.
MoreGood Healthy soup
Came just before closing time, owner greeted us and told us to take a seat. Had the soup of the day and split a sandwich between us, both were good and we didn't feel rushed to leave. Very good experience, planning on going back.
MoreI first visited Sunshine Bakery back in 1982 with my co-worker from the municipal bldg. I hadn't been in a few years but their food is still great. I like the daily double which is the soup of the day and sandwich. Keep up the good work!!!
MoreCould eat there Everyday
Great place nice people
I frequented this restaurant years ago when I worked in Augusta. I am rarely in Augusta anymore but happened to drive by while visiting the area and stopped in. It was just as I remembered it from years past. The owner was very friendly and made us feel at home.
MoreLove this place. They welcomed my puppy and us.Food and service outstanding
Was a nice place near Firestone, the food was good. Cookies were nice and soft. Watch prices, can add up quickly.
MoreTrue historic local site. Their Daily Double is a $4.99 sandwich with a cup of soup. The sandwiches are a little plain tasting, but customizable if you ask. Amazing cookies and cheerful service.
MoreBeen coming here since i was a little girl, food is so good!
I lived in Augusta way back in the late 1980's and we used to go to Sunshine Bakery all the time for a soup and sandwich. It was always so good but I think it was the barley bean soup that was my favorite. I had a good friend who was in the hospital being treated for cancer who had just had his arm amputated. He was so ill and weak that I brought him a big bowl of Sunshine Bakery barley bean soup. It was his first real meal since his surgery and he just loved it! For many years afterward (until he eventually passed away), he repeatedly thanked me and always said that it was the best soup he had ever tasted and it really helped him to feel better. I miss my friend and think of him often but when I recall this story it always makes me feel better. Thank-you Sunshine Bakery!
MoreReally like the soup, and the cookies.
Under new ownership. Not much to offer but very friendly staff. Hoping things develop soon. When staff member was incredibly friendly and informative about what there is to do in this town
MoreSorry, but my cookies were very dry. I heard good things.
